“Living is Giving and Giving is Living”

Very few things can surpass the joy in giving. We at Anand Niketan Shilaj Campus are always ready to partake of this joy. Now, with our initiative “Samarpan”we wish to afford others the fulfilment of the beautiful joy in giving. As a school we have always encouraged inclusiveness and compassion as aspirational values. With the various projects running under Samarpan, we hope to bring these values to broader community. Anand Niketan Shilaj Campus currently is running the following projects and plans to keep on adding more such initiatives under Samarpan.

Daan

“The gift of blood is the gift of life” is a slogan we hear a lot. We at ANSH witness the value of life everyday when we see our students making us proud. To make sure that noone loses the chance of achieving their dreams because of a lack of something as easily available as blood, a blood donation camp is conducted annually at ANSH where in all parents and staff participate.

Milaap

Christmas is the season of giving and ANSH believes there are many who need a loving gesture from their fellow human beings. Every year during Christmas, Shilaj Campus runs a drive under project Milaap to send used toys, clothes, books and household equipment to orphanages, remand homes and slums where dreams exist but the means to achieve them don’t. Students at ANSH are the contributors in this project and we hope that they take back more from this project in terms of values and joy than they give.

Ehsaas

ANSH undertook this project to afford students the pure joy in doing something with compassion and love for their fellow human beings. On their happiest days, their birthdays, students bring stationery to school with the objective of donating it. These gifts of love are collected and handed over to the local municipal schools by the contributing students so they can experience the joy in giving first hand.

Ek Naya Prayas

Those who build our homes, our temples, and our schools don’t stay in one place long enough to send their children even to free schools. Ek Naya Prayas was started in response to the pressing need to educate children who live a nomadic and impoverished lifestyle without access to any form of education. Staff employed by ANSH goes specially to construction sites to run mobile aanganwadis where children can get nourishing food, a safe place to explore their childhood, and an education, even if for a short period of time.

Saksham

There are many children in our city who do not even attend free municipal schools for a variety of reasons like distance from the school, unavailability of transport, responsibility as a care-taker for a younger sibling etc. Anand Niketan Shilaj Campus aims to make it possible for these children to attend an educational program by going to their homes to fetch them, providing food and basic clothing and operating proper subject wise classes and activities on the school campus itself. Children from age 3 to 13 are able to benefit from this program. Parents who wish to volunteer their services in this compassionate project as teachers, activity staff or medical practitioners may contact the Director directly.

Sneh

Our country suffers from one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world which means that children, who are bundles of joy, are snatched away from us prematurely due to lack of proper knowledge and care. Under our project Sneh, maternity kits consisting of basic necessities for a new born baby and mother are distributed at government hospitals to new mothers. We chanced upon this idea when we researched how Finland drastically reduced its mortality rate by giving simple and basic maternity kits to their new mothers.

Paalna

Anand Niketan Shilaj Campus has always aimed to create a stress-free and joyful environment in the school for our students as well as staff. As a lot of our staff members are mothers, it becomes difficult for them if no one is at home taking care of their children. As an initiative to aid these staff members, ANSH Paalna was born. It aimed to provide a space for the children of our staff members to learn and play while their mothers were still in school. However, with the number of working mothers growing, we began to receive many enquiries about the day care facility from mothers of our own students as well as other working parents. To aid mothers by providing a safe, healthy and happy environment while they were working, we opened the doors of Paalna to everyone.

Peepal Project

Anand Niketan Shilaj continuously endeavours to create a Green school by inculcating the habit of reducing, reusing or recycling. Being a Green school supporter not only means that we are benefitting the earth, but also that we are saving our own valuable resources.
In one more such endeavor, we have chosen to provide a platform to those who believe in the above and those who would like to inculcate these important values in their children. One way that parents can use this platform is by donating the books of their wards at the end of the academic year. This ensures that these books are reused by another student. A second way would be to receive the secondhand books donated by someone else. This not only saves the parent a considerable part of the textbook expenses, but also ensures that books are being reused. Please ensure to donate a full set of books in reasonably good condition.
We hope to see this platform used widely and wisely, in good faith. A school is a community and as a community we hope we can not only help each but also help ourselves and this planet.
